BLOGTOBERFEST13 (Day 12) Continuing with the whimsey of a VALENTINE to the American oystercatcher

Hallelujah for artistic process! And Hallelujahs for blogging every day that pushes me deeper and further along in this artistic process! Today, I have promised my amazingly brilliant husband that we would explore the vistas of our charming town of Decatur, Georgia (which just got voted top 10 of liveable cities in the United States!). Therefore, I am posting in the morning and abandoning the computer for the rest of the day (if I can stay away from it)!

This morning when I woke, knowing that I did not have oodles of time to delve into the next part of the life-cycle of the American oystercatcher, I followed my HEART to sketches already completed and on my dining room table. So this morning, I continued to follow my whimsey of making a VALENTINE to the American oystercatcher (see Blogtoberfest13 (Day 11)post).

Once again, I am playing with form, shape, and backgrounds. The markings on the oystercatcher eggs and the background of their environment are becoming heart-shaped to complement the heart enclosing the American oystercatcher parents.

Another part of my creative process is that I have learned to respect and CREATE what my HEART desires. If I address this longing and these visions, by expressing them visually, I'm amazingly FREED UP to discover and see what is next in my journey. I also believe that by following my intuition, I will be inviting the imaginative winds of magic into my art making!

Therefore, as I was finishing the image above, I began to see in my mind's eye, that these American oystercatcher parents were talking to their EGG BABIES. They were calling "Wheep, wheep, wheeeeeep," to their young. Jen Hilburn, ornithologist on St. Catherines Island, Georgia, has described their communications to me. So I moved forward to create this image below with the "wheeping" communications:

"WHEEP, WHEEEEEP," says THE AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER. Here, in this image, I continue to play around with the background and egg patterning while adding the new idea of parental love and expression of the oystercatcher.
