| DECATUR ARTS FESTIVAL 2014. Our pedestrian friendly city of Decatur allows people to stroll leisurely from venue to venue on the Artwalk, which always takes place the Friday evening of the festival. Here you can the artists' tents getting set up for Saturday. Look a little closer and you can see two neighbors waving at us from below. The photos posted here are only a glimpse of what a lovely evening it was in Decatur, Georgia, for the Artwalk on the Friday night of the Decatur Arts Festival 2014! The evening temperature was in the mid-seventies, breezes were gently caressing our faces and tossing the leaves of the numerous trees as we walked from our home into our thriving pedestrian friendly city.

| COOK'S WAREHOUSE AND SHERLOCK'S WINE MERCHANT. Yes to finding art displayed on crates of wine with wine bottles as back drops. | HEADING HOME AFTER FINISHING THE ARTWALK. Gosh! There was just an abundance of shops to visit, artists to attend to, friends to chat with. We didn't get to all of the venues. I made sure to visit the Decatur Public Library, which is celebrating children's book illustrators with an exhibit and served wine and cheese. We also stopped in to Little Shop of Stories, which is auctioning original work by children's book illustrators. What an abundance of riches! i'm so sorry I missed it last night - I've been a part of it for the past three years, so it would have been wonderful to see it from the other side. Decatur is a wonderful place - and I'm also proud to call it home

ReplyDeleteYes, I would have loved to do the Decatur Artwalk with you and Tony, but I'd probably would have gotten us in trouble by being the art. Raleigh has Artslopsure where, disappointingly, none of the art ever explodes, but I suspect the Decatur event is more compelling. I spent Friday evening trying to graphically represent George Orwell's dystopian novel, "1984." Then, to lighten my mood, I continued reading Man Martin's "Days of the Endless Corvette," which is set in Georgia, so maybe I was with you in spirit.
ReplyDeleteSpecial Needs Cat! It would have been a pleasure strolling with you through the artwalk. I imagine that we would have had a grand time of being "life" imitating "art." Did you Man Martin on the Daily Creative Practice--or did you already know about him?
DeleteWhat a great way to start out the holiday weekend and with perfect weather to boot...We have a ton of festivals all winter long but no art walk festivals like this. Did go on one in Sarasota once with my son...Can't figure out how i missed this blog but glad I went back to see and re read old blogs...
