THE BLACK JAGUAR: FOLLOWING THE FEELING TO DRAW FELINES

Hallelujah PILGRIMS!  Right now, I am following a FEELING by drawing FELINES in my daily work.

I welcomed "cats" into my artwork several weeks ago while in California after seeing the most magnificent bobcats moving freely about in their natural environment on the Hastings Reserve.

Then my Chiboogamoo and I returned to our home in Atlanta, Georiga, where we were welcomed by our two felines, Tao and Sapelo.

CAT ENERGY IS GOOD ENERGY.

FELINE WELCOMING FROM TAO. Upon our return home from our winter holiday,  the joy of being reunited with our kitties was outrageously pleasing! In this self-portrait, I was able to hold onto to Tao, but Sapelo was too squiggly!

Since I draw daily (my Coffee with Hallelujah --> communion with the SPIRIT), I practice FOLLOWING THE FEELING. And the FELINE has entered my consciousness and is becoming a symbol--of WHAT?

VARIATION ON A THEME (THE JAGUAR WITHIN).  (art by Hallelujah Truth)

It is hard to say just now what the symbolic import of my FELINES are. I am not worried about that. However, a few days after returning home to Atlanta, Georgia, from Carmel Valley, California, I went to the Carlos Museum to see the exhibit, "For I Am the Black Jaguar," thus supporting and feeding my FEELING for the FELINE. I also ensured the continuity of my artistic engagement with the image of the cat.

Although I read the signage associated with the exhibit of ancient Central and South American shamanic trance art, I spent most of my time absorbing the images of the jaguar in front of me. I drew simple black line drawings  of the jaguar as expressed on the terra cotta pots and figures. I became hypnotized by the eyes and teeth of the jaguar.

I have next to me here at the computer the book that Rebecca R. Stone wrote in conjunction with the exhibit, "The Jaguar Within," and will delve into her meaty explanations about shamanic trances and the relevance of the black jaguar later. The internet offers a plethora of interpretations as well.

For now, I am content to alter this particular image on photoshop and to contemplate the entrance of this new symbol of the FELINE into the COSMOS OF HALLELUJAH.

That's Coffee with Hallelujah! SOUL BLOG with me and tell me what the FELINE means to you!  And Hallelujah encourages you to FOLLOW your creative FEELINGS. What are you doing to feed and support your imaginative ideas?

  1. Love the contrast of the black head and the confetti of stars, flowers, spirals and dots in the background. Gorgeous color array.
