2014 Ranging the boundaries of the birthright exuberance: Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year! (source unknown, altered in Photoshop by Hallelujah Truth)
-->Hallelujah for new beginnings, for new years, and symbolic totems that ask us to delve into our psyches for meaning. Happy Chinese New Year and Hallelujah to the Year of the Horse!

"I hear the whinny of
their fenced and abandoned
freedom
and feel happy
today in the field
of my own making,..."
--David Whyte, from his poem Four Horses

Dear readers what does the horse symbolize for you? What might the Year of the Horse hold for you if you look for it? Here's a brief excerpt about "horse energy":

The Horse energy inspires powerful INTUITION and an indomitable surge towards freedom in every aspect of life. This is a year to follow your inner voice like never before, for it will have a universal cosmic ch’i within it.  (see more here)

Who are we in relationship to the great wide and beautiful universe? Can we create "the field of my own making" as David Whyte suggests and find happiness therein? Can we move towards claiming a "freedom" by following our inner voice, listening to our intuition with its cosmic ch'i as the excerpt about the year of horse suggests?

Coincidentally, as I'm contemplating "the boundaries of the birthright exuberance" and the fields of our own making, I just glanced at the post Maria Popova just published on her blog, Brain Pickings. She has written about an Alan Watts book entitled, The Book on the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are (see her post here). She explores one of his themes expressed in this way: "The cause and cure of the illusion of separateness that keeps us from embracing the richness of life."

Alan Watts writes about it being a "hallucination" that we are separate organisms bound in by our own skins. Our boundaries, the fields of our own making are created by the ego--essentially we are not alone, separate, I, Me, Myself...instead we are the universe!

So where am I going in this discussion? I love to contemplate my existence. I find the ego helpful in making individual decisions about actions I need to take today. I also know that I am responsible for my own happiness.

However, that said, I embrace the idea that we are not alone and isolated in this world and larger universe. The idea of being connected to you and others I still don't know or will never know excites me.

That is Coffee With Hallelujah. SOUL BLOG with me and share your ideas about the year of the horse. What energy will you take from the horse? What do you know about boundaries created by ego and choice? Are we all connected?
Here is a little more of David Whyte's poem, "Four Horses":

Four Horses  by David Whyte
(an excerpt)

On Thursday the farmer
put four horses
into the cut hay-field
next to the house.

Since then the days
have been filled with the
sheen of their
brown hides
racing the fence edge.

Since then I see
their curved necks
through the kitchen window;
sailing like swans
past the pale field.

Each morning
their hooves fill my
open door
with an urgency
for something
just beyond my grasp

and I spend my whole
day in an idiot joy,
writing, gardening,
and looking
for it
under every stone.

I find myself
wanting to do
something
stupid and lovely.

I hear the whinny of
their fenced and abandoned
freedom
and feel happy
today in the field
of my own making,

writing non-stop,
my head held high
ranging the boundaries
of the birthright
exuberance.

  1. What do horses mean to me...Strength, endurance, beauty, steadfastness, grace...and the list goes on...I am happy to know that in the years since my beginning I have evolved and am continuing to evolve. It is exciting to know that in my future are many wondrous things I can only contemplate and look forward to with "exuberance."...
