BLOGTOBERFEST13 (Day 16): Hatching into the unknown exploring myself through the hatching of American oystercatchers

HATCHED! Once we have outgrown our present circumstances, we must leave the "room" and go out into the unknown. Above you see an image I created to celebrate the American oystercatcher's "hatching." When a tasty delicious egg survives long enough to hatch, it is indeed time to celebrate! (Art by Hallelujah Truth)
TOTEM! As an artist, I have learned to draw and paint the image that wants to be expressed. In this way, I get my vital creative juices circulating, percolating and rising up! This American oystercatcher goddess asked to be present as I worked on hatching the baby American oystercatchers from their eggs today! (Art by Hallelujah Truth)

HATCHLINGS HATCHED INTO THE UNKNOWN! Look how large these Egg Babies had gotten before they emerged from their eggs! As they used their "egg tooth" to crack out of their shells, they burst into a large unknown world merely because they had outgrown their current home. Ever felt like that before? I was able to create this image using a photograph provided by my collaborator Jenifer Hilburn, ornithologist on St. Catherine's Island, Georgia (Thanks Jen!).   (Art by Hallelujah Truth)

I explored the theme of "hatching" earlier this year in May 2013. Below is an excerpt of my thoughts on this topic elaborating on a quotation from Mark Nepo about a chick (go here to see the complete blog entry.)

“Finally, its own growth begins to crack the shell, and the world as the chick knows it is coming to an end….”  From “The Chick Being Born” in THE BOOK OF AWAKENING (2000), Mark Nepo
Hallelujah for Mark Nepo and his beautiful insights! In the entry "The Chick Being Born," Nepo goes on to discuss the profound lesson of transformation. When we grow, it is almost like experiencing a death because we must leave an old way of being behind in order to experience the new way of being. And this change can be frightening, triggering fear. Remember Chicken Little (Henny Penny) running around repeatedly proclaiming:
THE SKY IS FALLING!
Well, when one's world is changing, it might feel as though disaster is imminent! However, "the falling sky" or the "whack" on the head may be and most likely is an announcement of the call to CHANGE!
AWAKENING. When I move, I change. If I inhabit a room and it becomes too small, I leave. This is change too. It is also a form of awakening. I appreciate the vulnerability of my wallaby. His need to be comforted alerts me to my need. We are one in the same. (Art by Hallelujah Truth)
That's Coffee with Hallelujah! SOUL BLOG with me! What's hatching for you right now? Are you being called to change as I am?

  1. This must be a period of change for both of us. My world as it has been for the last few years is changing. And for the good I believe...I am anxiously awaiting the next step for the hatchlings. .
